Clinton to undergo main street facelift in 2021

The Mayor of Central Huron is closely watching the construction on the main street of Seaforth this summer, and for good reason. Clinton will be going through the same experience next summer.
Jim Ginn says the county has decided to re-pave the main street.
"So the county has decided they're going to re-pave that section of road out to Base Line. So while they do that we want to replace some of our services downtown so that's going to require the main street to be dug up, again, north of the stop lights at 8 and 4."

Ginn adds, while that's being done they'll also take advantage of the opportunity to beautify the downtown a bit.

"We'll look to beautify the downtown a little bit while we're doing that with some nice sidewalks and street lights, but we needed to replace some sewers and some water lines and timing isn't great, with COVID this year, but we'll work with our businesses as much as we can."

Ginn says most of the stores will be accessible through the front doors during the construction, but there will be some days they're not.

"So any customers that need to enter the stores from the alleys, from the behind and through the back doors. So we're putting in place some plans to clean up and beautify the back of the alleys and make some accessible, if necessary."

Ginn says he expects work to start as early as possible next spring but it's too early to say how long it will take.
