OPP Canine Unit helps to locate domestic abuse suspect

Perth County OPP were assisted by a canine officer in locating a suspect involved in a domestic dispute.

On September 23 at 1:30 a.m., officers received a report of a domestic situation occurring at a residence on Perth Line 55, in the Township of Perth East. The suspect allegedly smashed a car windshield and when officers arrived, they discovered the suspect fled on foot.

Officers on the scene were assisted by the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit, who located the suspect hiding in a neighbour's barn. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

As a result, a 39-year-old Perth East resident is now charged with mischief over $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
