Drug trafficking investigation results in significant seizure

Huron County OPP and the Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit have made an arrest and a significant seizure as a result of a drug trafficking investigation.

On September 19th at 12:38 p.m., Huron County OPP stopped an SUV on Newry Road that was involved in a drug trafficking investigation. The driver was arrested, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine, cannabis resin (hash) and cannabis resin (oil). Police also seized offence related property that consisted of the SUV, a digital scale, cell phone and packaging materials.

The estimated combined value of the seized controlled substances is $10,320 and the estimated value of the seized offence related property is over $15,000. As a result, 58-year-old Robert Hackett of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking and Possession of Cannabis for the Purposes of Selling. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on November 30th.
