Food banks facing unique challenges with COVID-19 outbreak

With the COVID-19 outbreak affecting all facets of life, food banks are doing their best to continue to help those who need their services.

Joyce Johnston fo Food Share in Wingham says it's a challenging time for everyone, but they are taking measures to ensure they can still serve their clients.

"What we're going to ask them to do is wait in their vehicle or outside, to get food. They'll get a number, but they wait in their vehicle or stand outside and we'll call them in one at a time to access the Food Share and we'll hopefully only have one client in the building at a time."

Johnston says if clients are ill, they can call Food Share and they will do their best to deliver food to them.

"We have decided we'll do that, we aren't sure yet how that'll work, but we want them to know that we will make sure they get food whether it's delivered or if they can arrange for someone to pick it up."

Food share is at 405 Josephine Street (Main Street) in Wingham behind the Upper Deck Youth Centre, just across the street from Libro.
