A Listowel building owner brought an interesting advertising proposal to North Perth Council Monday night.
Corey Wilson owns a building on the corner of Wallace Avenue and Inkerman Street in Listowel, which houses a realty business and hairdresser downstairs, and apartments upstairs. Wilson would like to mount a large, digital sign on the building to help advertise the community.
"Local events, fundraisers, local businesses that don't necessarily have a brick and mortar store in the downtown will have a presence on the sign."
Wilson proposed having an eight-foot by 12-foot digital sign mounted on the building facing Wallace, which sees a lot of traffic throughout the day. It would dim at night and Wilson said he would be willing to let the town advertise events for free.
"Absolutely, I'm offering some space on the sign to the town for community events to help support them."
A sign that big is outlawed by municipal legislation, but North Perth Council agreed to send a request to the chief building official to explore a possible exemption.
