Family Day events open all across Midwestern Ontario

Whether you choose to spend Family Day with your relatives, friends, or by yourself, there are plenty of activities happening throughout the region to keep you entertained.

The North Huron Wescast Community Complex in Wingham is welcoming you this afternoon for a public skate, swim, and face painting by Snippety the Clown! Events run from 12:30-4pm.

The North Huron Recreation Department in Blyth has a fun filled lineup that includes breakfast, a Frozen themed family skate, and facepainting, all happening from 8am till noon at the Blyth & District Community Centre.

The Hanover P&H Center's family day of play features swimming, skating, balloon animals, and more! The fun starts at 9am.

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton is hosting a Family Day carnival from 10am-4pm, complete with performances, activities, and games!

South Huron's Family Day Winterfest begins with breakfast at the Lions Club at 8am, and features plenty of activities throughout the day at the Ausable Trails and around town. A fireworks display at MacNaughton Park will wrap up the day beginning at 7pm.

You can also spend the day at Blue Mountain, doing a number of activities, from skiing, to a scavenger hunt, and even a "Dream Trail" light show, up until 9pm

Family Day was first held in Alberta in 1990 as a way to celebrate the importance of families and family life to people and their communities.. It wasn't introduced in Ontario until 2008.
