Agriculture Seminar held in Seaforth

Former CKNX Farm Director, Andrew Campbell was a guest speaker at last week's Agricultural Seminar in Seaforth.

Campbell started his presentation by pointing out that agri-food and food processing is a booming industry.

“One in eight people has a job within agriculture, agri-food, food processing, supporting all of that industry. That's a huge number and even in Ontario it's one of the biggest industries in terms of the entire Province.” But he also noted it could be even bigger if Ontario farmers would take advantage of some of the opportunities available to them.

“When you start looking at all of the products that we're sending overseas to be processed and some of that might even be coming back, why don't we do more of that in Ontario. There's so much more opportunity for us to continue to expand what we already have to add more jobs and build on communities in our own area.”

Campbell says there's so much more we could do here to expand what we already have to create more jobs and building on the communities in our own area.
