Local council implements Community Development Committee

Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is in the process of putting together a Community Development Committee.

Mayor Glen McNeil said a decision was made at a meeting last October to create the committee for 2020 and forward for the next three years. McNeil said the mandate of that committee will be to facilitate the implementation of the municipality's strategic plan.

“We had a meeting to develop our strategic plan for 2020 and forward for the next three years. We have appointed two members of council to sit on that committee, there will be a staff member, one member from the lakeshore community and one member from the agricultural community.”

McNeil said the committee will consist of Jennifer Miltenburg and Roger Ward as the two council members and Deputy Clerk Florence Witherspoon as the staff representative.

McNeil said the committee is being formed to flush out ideas and to facilitate funding opportunities.

“So this is just to flush out ideas and to facilitate funding opportunities and to explore partnerships that would enhance the cooperation between the communities in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.”
