Province announces infrastructure investment

The provincial government announced some major funding for local infrastructure projects and supports.

In a release last week, Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson detailed an investment of just over $8.8 million for her Huron-Bruce riding this year to help municipal governments repair roads, bridges, water and wastewater infrastructure.

16 municipalities across Huron-Bruce will be splitting the 2020 funding. Across the province, the Doug Ford led Conservatives are promising to invest $200 million through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF).

Thompson said this shows the provincial government is committed to helping local rural communities.

“Municipalities across Huron-Bruce have aging infrastructure. This provincial investment is invaluable in order to enable local municipalities to build and repair roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems as needed," she said.
