Grey Bruce Health Services (GBHS) has unveiled a new program aimed at assisting patients with a mental health crisis.
GBHS said the new program will be aimed at helping patients who come into the emergency room with a mental health crisis at Owen Sound Hospital. The emergency department can be a stressful and overwhelming place for someone suffering a mental health crisis, so a new room has been opened adjacent to the ED, which offers a quiet, safer and calmer environment.
Patients will be able to access focused counselling sessions, group sessions, and links to other relevant mental health services.
The GBHS Crisis Support Program is able to assist six to eight patients per day on an outpatient basis through the week, and 24 hours if need be on weekends.
