An intoxicated woman kept Owen Sound police busy Tuesday night.

Officers were asked to investigate a disturbance in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue East where a woman who appeared to be drunk was assaulting another woman who had just left a downtown restaurant.

A bystander tried to de-escalate the situation and was hit in the head with a full bottle of beer by the intoxicated female. The woman then walked out into traffic and tried to open doors of vehicles that were stopped in traffic.

As officers arrested the woman, she attempted to bite and scratch them.  She was taken into custody without injury to herself or the officers.

A 48-year-old woman is now charged with assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with conditions of a probation order. She is expected to appear in court next month.

The bystander who was hit with the beer bottle did not sustain any serious injury.
