All Avon Maitland schools closed Wednesday because of OSSTF walkout
All schools in the Avon Maitland District Board system are closed on Wednesday due to another one-day rotating strike by members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.
The strike involves eight Ontario school boards, including Avon Maitland District.
The OSSTF said there will be a full withdrawal of services at high schools within those boards, meaning schools will be closed.
Because support staff, including education assistants, designated early childhood educators and professional student services personnel, are represented by OSSTF in Avon Maitland, the board is closing all elementary schools as well.
The OSSTF walkout does not affect schools in the Bluewater District, Upper Grand District, or the Catholic boards in Huron-Perth and Bruce-Grey.
OSSTF members will be conducting pickets in front of schools, MPP’s offices and other locations as part of the one day strike.
