Local police services are releasing results of their six-week Festive R.I.D.E. campaigns.

Wellington County led all OPP jurisdictions in alcohol-related driving charges. OPP officers conducted 112 R.I.D.E checks throughout the county, and charged a total of 29 people with impaired driving offences. 30 other drivers received warning range suspensions.

South Bruce OPP officers charged four drivers with impaired driving offences. One driver was issued a three-day licence suspension following a “warn result” at the roadside.

And the Saugeen Shores Police Service said officer laid only one impaired-related charge during checks of over 1,200 vehicles.  Three provincial offences charges were laid, and 33 provincial offences warnings were issued.

Police advise that R.I.D.E. programs will continue throughout the year in an effort to combat impaired driving and improve traffic safety.
