Bayfield starts process to control future growth

The Municipality of Bluewater has formally initiated the Bayfield secondary plan project.

It will take about one year and will involve extensive public consultation.

"It's a high-level conceptual plan that's going to show the preferred location of future residential and commercial development, but it will also incorporate future parks and trails, natural areas where we can have connections and also where infrastructure will go," said Senior Planner Denise Van Amersfoort.

The process will include a Citizens Advisory Committee.

"We are looking for approximately twelve members from the public and their role will be to advise and inform the development of the secondary plan to ensure that the broad spectrum of perspectives in Bayfield are considered," said Van Amersfoort.

Van Amersfoort said the secondary plan will determine how growth takes place in Bayfield and what the village will look like in the future.

Anyone interested in sitting on the advisory committee can apply to the Bluewater municipal office, but Van Amersfoort said there will also be several opportunities for public input.
