County releases waste reducing tips
The County of Wellington has released some waste reducing tips.
On a post on its county website, the county points to the fact that during the holidays, many produce more waste than normal with the celebrations, food, and gifts.
Tips include using reusable bags when shopping.
Put out natural Christmas trees for collection on the week of January 7. Or they can be taken to any of Wellington’s waste facilities from December 27 to January 31.
And wrap gifts in reusable items such as reusable gift bags, metal tins, tea towels, and scarves.
And If hosting a celebration, avoid disposable dinnerware. And avoid food waste by sending your guests home with leftovers.
In July 2020 Wellington County is introducing a green bin programme, which will take food scraps and more to divert waste from land fills.
