The provincial government has announced that applications for the 2020 Celebrate Ontario grants are now open.
Celebrate Ontario 2020 provides funding for new and existing festivals and local events to improve the experience.
Bruce-Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker says it's a great opportunity for organizers of local events.
"I just want to encourage everyone in our area to apply for one of these and hopefully gain some funding to help their events be as successful as possible."
Walker would like local event organizers in the area to apply for the grants, and the application deadline is Tuesday, January 21st at 5 pm.
There is a Celebrate Ontario 2020 website where you can apply, and MPP Walker says if anyone needs assistance, you can contact his office or MPP Lisa Thompson's office to get help applying.
"These types of funding are available whether it's a small, medium or large event, and really what we're trying to do is showcase the culture, the richness of our communities, the heritage and things that are unique to our own backyard."
