Huron Perth Ontario Health Team gets approved

Goderich Alexandra Marine and General C-E-O, Bruce Quigley, says the collaboration of sixty health care partners in the creation of the new Huron Perth Ontario Health Team speaks volumes about the determination of everyone involved to pull it off.

Quigley says the partnerships formed in creating the team will be invaluable in contributing to the success of the team going forward

“I think the real benefit of this is it will, first and foremost, improve accessibility for patients and their families, to the system. Also it will improve the degree to which patients are able to transition from one provider system to another.”

Quigley adds the health care providers will also benefit by knowing that they're patients will be getting the care they need when they need it. But Quigley says they won't be the only beneficiaries.

“It's also gonna be really positive for the providers, who will play a key role in the success of this system, in that the closer we are as a system working together, the easier it will be for them to ensure their patients receive the care they need when they need it.”

Huron-Bruce M-P-P, Lisa Thompson, says she was very happy to join Perth-Wellington M-P-P Randy Pettapiece in Mitchell yesterday to announce the approval of the Huron Perth and Area Ontario Health Team. Thompson says it was one of the first in the province to be approved and believes that one of things that helped with the approval was the fact that sixty community health care partners are involved in the team.

“The commitment of sixty organizations coming together to demonstrate that rural Ontario matters and there was no denying that there was a strong foundation in which to build a successful delivery close to home.”

Thompson says she believes health care providers around the Province will be looking to Huron and Perth to see how they did it and how well the model works going forward.
