The fifth Annual CKNX Relief Truck food collection and fundraiser ended Friday as a huge success.

Donated non-perishable food items almost filled three tractor trailer units.  Those trailers had been parked for the last week at Dean’s Valu-Mart in Wingham, and Kaufman’s Valu-Mart in Walkerton.

Thousands of dollars in cash and cheques came from service clubs, school classes, sports teams, businesses, and individuals. One of the highlights was a donation of 800 kilograms of fresh chicken from the Chicken Farmers of Ontario.

Countless volunteers also made the collection and loading of the trailers easier.

Those trucks are headed for the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre, the North Huron Community Foodshare, and the Walkerton and District Food Bank.

CKNX AM920 morning host Buzz Reynolds lived in the back of one of the trailers for the entire week until he reached his food collection goal.  Reynolds also broadcasted his morning radio show from there.
