Second annual Here4Hope event set to be held in Fergus

The second annual Here4Hope event will take place Tuesday night in Fergus.

Wellington County in partnership with the OPP, Canadian Mental Health Association of Waterloo Wellington and other local groups, holds the event to better educate and help those struggling with mental health. Wellington County Communications Manager Andrea Ravensdale said they have a great keynote speaker lined up.

"We're very pleased to have two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and six-time World Champion for the Canadian National Women's Hockey Team Cheryl Pounder as our keynote speaker. So it's going to be a fantastic event. There's also going to be individuals on a panel who will be sharing some insights," said Ravensdale.

Ravensdale said the event is to share information and talk about mental health and suicide, and how you can seek help if you need it. She said she hopes everyone who attends will be able to get pointed in the right direction regarding their mental health needs.

"We're really hoping that it helps continue the conversation about mental health, suicide and where people can go for supports. We know it can be a challenge for some of our rural residents to access some of these supports," she said.

Admission on Tuesday is free at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Fergus from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the Here4Hope event.
