A one of a kind quilt show was held at the Seaforth Community Centre yesterday.
Project Coordinator Trina O'Rourke explains the Cherrywood hand died fabric company in Minnesota provided the fabric in a challenge package that also includes the subject for the challenge and this year the subject is artist Bob Ross.
O'Rouke says each contestant will then create a miniature quilt depicting something relating to the subject. O'Rourke says they have 120 pieces of quilt art and the Seaforth event is the only one in Canada.
“We're the only Canadian showing of this this year. It travels internationally. The first year I brought it it was Van Gogh and when I finished with it I sent it to California where it toured the States and when at the end of its tour half of it went to a show in Australia.”
O'Rourke says the fabric in the challenge box is hand dyed and it's over-dyed six to eight times to give it the look and feel of suede but it's actually one hundred per cent cotton.
O'Rourke says after today the exhibit will go back to Cherrywood in Minnesota and then tour internationally.
