Two new Community Safety Zones in Clinton

Central Huron council has agreed to lower the speed limit on two roads near schools in response to complaints from residents about speeding vehicles.

Mayor Jim Ginn said residents had signed a petition asking that something be done to get drivers to slow down on Princess Street, which runs in front of the high school.

Council gave direction to staff to initiate a Community Safety Zone with a reduced speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour.  That would include all of Princess Street and Percival, which runs in front of the Clinton Public School.

Mayor Ginn said they still have to get the signs in place and pass the new bylaw, but he expects that will be done before the end of the year.
