Goderich awards tender for new boardwalk, but delays project
The tenders for a new boardwalk along the Goderich waterfront were opened at this week’s council meeting.
The tender was awarded to the lowest bidder, Art’s Landscaping of Goderich. But that was as far as it got.
Mayor John Grace said the tender was tabled and there was a lot of discussion about the merits of the possible compositions of a new boardwalk, with some councillors wanting all wood, others favouring a combination of wood and concrete, and one councillor preferring all concrete.
So the mayor said they’ve delayed the process.
“We’ve set it aside, we’ve tabled it and we will come back in two weeks and revisit it again and hopefully we will find consensus at that time to let the tender,” he said.
Grace said cost is also part of the discussion, but there isn’t widespread support at this time for any of the options.
