West Grey named in Canada's Best Communities list

West Grey has been named one of Canada's Best Communities in a recent ranking in Maclean's magazine.

Among communities throughout the country, West Grey was ranked 351st, scoring well for affordability, employment and culture.

West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson said on Monday that they are focused on promoting better growth and over quality of life in West Grey, alongside many other partners throughout the region.

“It is such an exciting time for West Grey as the world is starting to recognize what we’ve known all along. We have jobs, homes for sale, amazing arts, culture and recreation—and all located along some of the most beautiful countrysides you will find," she said.

Mayor Robinson said West Grey is always focused on inclusion and making the community great for everyone.

“Everyone is welcome," she said. "We are working to bring people together and lead the way.”

In terms of other Midwestern Ontario communities, Wellington North at number 151, and then Hanover at 153. Those are followed by Mapleton at number 237, Saugeen Shores at 242, South Huron, 259, and Stratford at 285. Georgian Bluffs is at number 336, Kincardine places 338, North Perth ranks 354, Meaford at 356, Grey Highlands placed at 359, Perth East at 372 and Owen Sound is number 379.

Burlington, Grimsby and Ottawa are the top three.
