Central Huron raises more money for more contenders in 'Win This Space' competition

Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn made a special announcement at last night's annual Mayor's Mingle.

Ginn announced that funding has been raised for two more "Win This Space" contenders. That brings the total number of winners in the contest to seven.

Community Improvement Coordinator Angela Smith said all of the additional money was raised by the community and no tax dollars were involved.

“One has not been announced yet, but the rest all have their stores picked," she said. "They're elbow deep in paint, getting them all spruced up and we just couldn't be happier and we did it all with private money, no taxpayers money went to use for the additional six, so we're excited about that.

“I'm going to announce [the winner] a little later in the summer, once that group of seven starts getting a little closer to their opening," she added. "We're going to do a grand re-opening of Clinton and we're calling it Grand Re-opening of Clinton, Central Huron's downtown.”
