Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP ready for challenge of energy portfolio

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker looks forward to the challenge of his new cabinet portfolio.

Walker was named Associate Minister of Energy in last week's cabinet shuffle.

He acknowledged the energy portfolio is huge and affects everyone.

"The less fortunate, It touches single moms, it touches seniors, it touches businesses, our institutions like our hospitals our universities our schools, things like our public facilities like curling clubs, arenas and rec centres.  There's a lot of things that it impacts so you want to make sure that you're doing it well," said Walker.

He added nuclear power will remain at the forefront of the province's energy policies.

"We've committed to the refurbishment of nuclear, we're definitely a pro-nuclear government and want to make sure those refurbishments at Darlington, Pickering and the Bruce go forward as effectively as possible so I'm really really excited about it," said Walker.
