Playtime Casino Hanover celebrates grand opening

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment cut the ribbon for its Playtime Casino Hanover on Thursday.

About 100 people packed into the new MATCH Eatery to hear remarks from Playtime Casino Hanover GM Derek Tierney, Gateway CAO Brad Bardua, and Hanover Mayor Sue Patterson, who all took time to focus on the economic boom that they are hoping will follow the casino's opening.

An $18 million renovation has transformed a property that had been vacant for almost seven years into what Mayor Patterson hopes will improve community development, adding the casino will "benefit the community with jobs, not just for Hanover, but for the region".

The casino has added 100 new jobs to Hanover, and features 300 slot machines and 8 live table games.

The opening of Playtime Casino Hanover follows the company's opening last week of a new Gateway Casino in Wasaga Beach, and ahead of the new $36M Cascades Casino set to open in Chatham-Kent this July.
