Construction of new OPP building in Clinton moving well

The mayor of Central Huron says work is progressing slowly, but steadily, on the new OPP headquarters building in Clinton.

Jim Ginn said they've been able to get some concrete poured and he thinks they've completed all of what he calls the "sub-soil work". With the arrival of milder weather, they'll start with the infrastructure of the building.

Ginn said the official completion date he was given was April of 2020, but some people have suggested it could be sooner than that.

He said the OPP station could employ as many as 70 people.

He also said the EMS administrative team is moving to the upstairs of the fire hall, which is just across the road from the new OPP station. The team will have the fire department, ambulance, EMS administration and OPP all in one area and he says that will make emergency response very centralized, not only for Central Huron, but for the entire county.
