Bulldogs take the lead in Pollock Division quarter final series

Logan Freiburger scored and set up two more in the Kincardine Bulldogs 7-5 win over Mitchell.

The Bulldogs now lead their Pollock Division quarterfinal series 3-2.

Logan Swanton and Jordan Caskenette scored and added an assist each in the win. Braeden Brudett led the Hawks with a goal and two helpers.

Mitchell’s Luke Van Pelt got the scoring started with a power play goal at 5:21 of the first. Blake Buchanan answered for Kincardine, unassisted at 12:44. Keegan Angel’s power play goal at 16:41 gave the Bulldogs the lead but Jarett Bogdon scored with just over a minute left in the opening frame to tie the game heading into the second.

Mitchell was first on the board again in the middle frame, with Brudett finding the twine at 12:28. Jordan Caskenette answered for Kincardine just over a minute later. Jerrid Fossold and Freiburger scored to end the period, giving Kincardine a 5-3 lead going into the third.

The third period began much like the other two with Mitchell first on the board. Spencer Dowd scored at 4:20 to put th Hawks within a point. Logan Swanton scored unassisted to extend the Bulldogs lead to 6-4 and Mike Fiegehen put Kincardine up 7-4 with a goal at the midway point. Tyson Hall tried to get a Hawks rally started with four minutes left to play but that would be the end of the scoring.

Craig Luinstra earned the win with 22 saves. Ryan Govier stopped 33 shots for the Hawks.

Game 6 goes Thursday night in Kincardine.
