Updated Flood Outlook Statement for West Grey

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has issued a flood outlook statement for the Municipality of West Grey.

This week's rainfall and fluctuations in temperature has resulted in the deterioration of surface ice in the Saugeen River through the town of Durham.    Ice jamming and localized flooding are possible below the dam near the baseball diamonds.

Due to milder temperatures forecast for Thursday, it's expected this will result in rising water levels, and flows are expected to remain elevated into the weekend.    The release notes that "major flooding" is not anticipated.

Residents are reminded to use caution, as water temperatures remain frigid and streambanks can be slippery and unstable.    Parents are encouraged to keep their children and pets away from streams and frozen watercourses.
