Future of Listowel Arena still undecided

The future of the old Listowel Memorial Arena is still a long way from being decided.

North Perth Council recently had the results of an online survey regarding the building presented to them, and Director of Recreation Steve Hardie said a majority were leaning toward one particular option.

"The respondents seemed to be leaning more towards the demolition and/or not using that facility for recreational or community events but re-purposing the property for potential future recreational needs," said Hardie.

Hardie said the Recreational Advisory Committee will meet in a few weeks.

"They're going to take a look at all the options that were presented," he said. "They're also going to take a look at other things that may have been discussed at their level or with the public and user groups, and taking the costs that were initially looked at, and diving into those a little deeper."

No matter the outcome, Hardie said the advisory committee wants to ensure that all avenues are explored and dissected, alongside more public input, to ensure the best outcome for the municipality and the property.
