GOJHL: Sugar Kings and Siskins win; Lincolns lose

Elmira 5 Listowel 3

Elmira scored four times in the first period, including back-to-back goals by Kurtis Goodwin, and the Sugar Kings went on to beat Listowel 5-3.

Chayse Herrfort put the Cyclones on the board with a power play goal at 6:51 of the second. Trent Verbeek scored 30 seconds later to make it 4-2 Elmira heading into the third.

Holdyn Lansink's power play goal just past the midway point of the third put the Cyclones to within a goal but Anthony Azzano's empty netter put the game out of reach with 49 seconds left to play.

Evan Morrison stopped 24 of 28 shots in a losing effort for the Cyclones. Mat Woroniuk made 24 saves for the Sugar Kings.

Waterloo 8 Cambridge 2

Benton Hayes scored twice and set up another as Waterloo topped Cambridge 8-2.

Alex Lycett, Owen Lane, Sam Spaedt, Blake Petterle, and Curtis Rawn earned two points each with a goal and an assist.

Christian Taylor also scored for the Siskins.

The Redhawks got goals from Phil Caron and Jagger O'Toole.

Chatham 5 St. Marys 3

Carter Schoonderwoerd scored twice in the third period but it wasn't enough to dig the Lincolns out of their hole and they lost 5-3 to Chatham.

The Maroon's scored at 4:22 of the first before Mason Goldie tied it less than a minute later. Dane Johnstone made it 2-1 Chatham heading into the second.

Justin Badour was the lone scorer in the middle frame, giving Chatham a 3-1 lead heading into the third.

Two more goals from the Maroons in the third would prove to be too much for St. Marys and who are now last in the Western Conference with 16 points and a 7-20-1-1 record.
