Rangers fall despite a hat trick from Yantsis

Even a hat trick from Jonathan Yantsis couldn't get Kitchener the win as the Rangers lost 8-5 to North Bay.

Rickard Hugg and Joseph Garreffa also scored for the Rangers.

The Battalion were led by Justin Brazeau with two goals and an assist.

Yantsis scored two back-to-back in the first period before Daniel Walker put the Battalion on the board with just over five minutes left in the opening frame.

Adam McMaster and Brad Chenier scored two-and-a-half minutes apart in the second to tie for the Battalion. Hugg, Yantsis and Garreffa answered for Kitchener with a three goal out burst all before the seven minute mark of the period to make it 5-3 Kitchener.

Brazeau scored his first of the game to put North Bay within a point heading into the third.

The final period belonged to the Battalion with Brazeau scoring again just 2:52 into the frame and Walker netting the game winner at 5:08. Chenier added insurance midway through the third and Matthew Struthers found an empty Rangers net with just over a minute left in the game.
