Southgate is going ahead with a project to remove asbestos-bearing drywall from the auditorium of the Dundalk arena.
The removal is necessary before Southgate can proceed with an overall upgrade of the auditorium, including accessible washrooms, an elevator, a family and child centre and a meeting area.
CAO Dave Milliner says it's difficult to find a contractor to perform the asbestos removal, but Southgate is hoping to award the tender by the end of February.
