GOJHL Wrap: Stratford tops Listowel and Kitchener gets a shut out over Elmira

Stratford 5 Listowel 1

The Stratford Warriors jumped out to a two-goal first period lead and went on to beat Listowel 5-1.

Drew Welsch led the scoring with a pair of goals. Kameron Shearer and Nathan Smilsky each scored and had an assist in the win.

Clayton Lewis rounded out the Warriors offense.

Listowel's lone goal was courtesy of Chayse Herrfort.

Zack Weir earned the win with 26 saves.

Kitchener 4 Elmira 0

Lucas Patton stopped all 21 shots he faced as the Kitchener Dutchmen blanked Elmira 4-0.

The Dutchmen got goals from four different players in the win: Matt Marinier, Kole Scott, Cooper Walker and Blair Derynck.

Mat Woroniuk took the loss for the Sugar Kings, stopping 29 of 33 shots.

Waterloo 6 Brampton 2

Owen Lane's goal with 15 seconds left in the second period would stand as the game winner in Waterloo's 6-2 win over Brampton. It was Lane's second goal of the game.

Dominick DiPonio scored and had two assists for the Siskins. Sam Cherry and Jeff Schrattner each set up three in the win.

Sam Spaedt, Jack Chumley and Tyler Dam also scored for Waterloo.

Matt Onuska stopped 22 shots for the win. Owen Porter made 41 saves for the Bombers.
