Updated Owen Sound City Hall unveiled with ribbon cutting ceremony

The ribbon was cut to officially open Owen Sound's renovated city hall.

Councillors, staff and friends gathered to do the honours after a few short speeches. It's taken two years to complete upgrades to 54 year old building. Changes include a new boiler, better insulation, new windows and top of line broadband service. The council chambers and office area have been completely reconfigured. Mayor Ian Boddy says the renovated building will make it a better workplace for staff and provide easier access for the public.

"I think the public will see a difference. When they come to a counter and they're no longer having to run up to the engineering department to talk to engineers and just the way the counter space and service Owen Sound is set out it's a lot easier to find and a lot easier to get information," said Boddy.

The renovations to Owen Sound city hall cost about 8.5 million dollars.
