The mayor of Huron-Kinloss is making a bid for his fifth term as warden of Bruce County.
Mitch Twolan says he will be putting his name forward during the warden's election when county council meets for its inaugural session on December 6th.
He says it's an exciting time in the county and he wants to help be a guiding hand as Bruce County and its municipalities see their way through significant growth.
"There's so many things going on in the County of Bruce right now, a lot of has to, obviously, surround the Bruce Power, the [major component replacement], the refurbishment program, that's big," says Twolan. "Obviously, the natural gas, bringing natural gas to southern Bruce County is also big."
Twolan has held the position on four occasions previously, his first term was in 2007, followed by three-consecutive terms from 2015 through 2017 and would be the first person in 140 years to serve at least five terms as warden.
He is so far unopposed, as current warden Paul Eagleson had declared his intention to seek re-election, but will be departing county council after losing the mayoral race in Arran-Elderslie to mayor-elect Steve Hammell.
