Clinton residents facing numerous theft and fraud charges

Two Clinton residents return to court in November to face a long list of charges in connection with a series of crimes in Clinton over the last year. Those crimes include vehicle thefts, a break-and-enter and the fraudulent use of stolen cheques.

Huron and Perth County OPP, alongside the OPP Street Crimes Unit, executed a search warrant last Friday at a residence on King Street in Clinton.

Police seized stolen identification consisting of passports, health cards, driver's licences, birth certificates, student cards and vehicle documents from over a dozen victims. Police also seized stolen debit cards, credit cards and personal cheques. Quantities of various drugs were also found.

Michael Bissett, 29, and Kristen Steeper, 26, of Clinton, are both charged with break and enter, possession of methamphetamine, possession of morphine, possession of codeine and 11 counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Bissett also is charged with separate Fraud and Use of Stolen Credit Card charges. Steeper faces an additional two fraud under $5,000 charges.

Both have been released from custody and have court dates in Goderich scheduled for November 19.

Huron County OPP said this is an ongoing investigation.
