OPP request public help in solving bank robbery cases

A reward of $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a series of bank robberies in Southern Ontario earlier this year.

The first one was March 7 at a CIBC branch in Markham.  Two suspects wearing disguises got away with cash.

One day later, two suspects with their faces covered entered a TD branch in Fonthill and robbed the bank.

On March 13, two suspects wearing disguises entered the RBC branch in Moorefield, demanded cash and got away.

On March 29, two heavily disguised suspects entered an RBC branch in Embro and robbed the bank.

And on April 6, two suspects entered an RBC branch in Scotland and left with cash.

At each of these robberies, the suspects were reported to be carrying a firearm. They were also well covered with dark face masks, hoods, and gloves.

The Canadian Bankers Association is offering the $10,000 reward for help from the public in catching those responsible for these robberies.

There is a note of caution from the OPP that these suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who may know the identity or the whereabouts of the suspects should not approach them. Instead, contact the police immediately by calling 911.

A dedicated tip line has been set up for this investigation. Anyone with information that can assist police is asked to call 1-855-677-4636 or if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
