New ABCA check list for permits for shoreline erosion projects

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has created a checklist for people wishing to do erosion protection work on their shoreline properties.

Water and Planning Manager Geoff Cade said a permit from the conservation authority is required for erosion protection projects on shoreline properties. In the past, applications have lacked some of the necessary information.

Cade said the goal of the checklist is to speed up the application process.

"It spells out what we will require as part of a permit, good design drawings, information about the property because we need to make sure it's being put on property that the people own and not crossing over into other people's property, existing conditions, what it'll look like when it's finished and so forth," he said.

Cade said if people prepare the information that is required on their application ahead of time, it should make getting the permit much easier.
