United Way Appeals For Public Help With Backpack Program

The Bruce Grey United Way's Backpack Program needs help.

Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says with demand is skyrocketing, they're going to need about 400 more than they planned. The back pack program ensures all children have the necessary school supplies on the first day of school. Dobbyn says lower-income families are under a lot of stress to make ends meet.

"There's a lot of pressure on parents out there. We just want to make sure every child has what they need for that first day of school," says Dobbyn.

Dobbyn is appealing for help from the public.

"It would be absolutely amazing to meet this need and our community is so generous and we're so appreciative that they can always rise to these occasions of crisis," he says.

Dobbyn says the best way to help is through cash donations. To support the program donations can be made online at www.donatetoday.ca, by phone at 519-376-1560 or by mail or in person at 380 9th St. E Owen Sound.
