Perth East Receives Funding For Asset Management Project

The Township of Perth East has received funding toward their Asset Management Planning and Implementation Project.

Perth East Treasurer Rhonda Fischer says the township has a request for proposal for a consultant to help with strategic policy development.

"That would be to identify the goals and policies under the Asset Management Plan, and we will be getting public input on that, so there will be public consultations to see how they want to see their assets managed going forward," says Fischer.

Fischer says they can then look at current levels of service with their assets, and then determine what the future of those will be. The Province has made an Asset Management Plan a requirement for municipalities to be fully completed by 2024. Perth East received just over $35,000 from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Municipal Asset Management Program for the project. Fischer notes the plan will have a main focus but will also focus on more than just infrastructure.

"Infrastructure will be the main component of it, the core assets, but it will also include our other assets such as buildings and equipment, so it will be all-encompassing," says Fischer.

Fischer says Perth East are in the beginning stages of the province-mandated project, with the initial phases scheduled to be done for next July.
