UPDATE: Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation At Southampton School

Updated at 9pm

----

Police have determined that there is no risk to public safety after a bomb threat was called into GC Huston School in Southampton.

Police were called shortly after 10am on Tuesday after a 911 call was made indicating a bomb was in a vehicle in the parking lot of the school.  The school, as well as the nearby Bruce County Museum, were put into lockdown, and students, staff and local residents were asked to evacuate the area.

"This is a very isolated incident in Saugeen Shores," Southampton officials said in a news release. "Emergency Services responded as trained and prepared, with full tiered response activated, and all precautions were taken."

The area was closed to the public as officers conducted an investigation. A police canine unit was also called in to search the area.

The all-clear was given around 9pm, but police are still investigating.

"Thank you to the community for respecting the road closure and for avoiding the area while Saugeen Shores police investigated the scene," said Mayor Mike Smith.
