Wynne's Concession Seen As Positive Move By Local Liberal Candidate

The Liberal candidate in Bruce-Grey Owen Sound says her strategy will not change considering Kathleen Wynne's concession she is not going to win the election.

Francesca Dobbyn says Wynne's move may help local candidates by taking the focus off Wynne herself.

Dobbyn says Doug Ford's plan to cut $6-billion in provincial spending can only mean cuts to services. She says that's especially true for rural Ontario.

"It's easy to look at an urban setting that has transit and programs like that and say OK we're going to centralize but when you centralize programs in a rural area it's total service cuts. It's a pie in the sky number, it's absolutely ridiculous," says Dobbyn.

She adds cuts to services will especially hurt health care programs for the elderly.

Dobbyn says Ford lacks the experience to be an effective premier and doesn't understand how the system works.  She says an effective provincial leader needs to have spent at least one term in the legislature.

"Lack of experience is a huge piece to that because you don't understand how the systems all interrelate and when you don't know how they interrelate you don't know what you're going to break when you defund one aspect of a huge system," she adds.

Dobbyn says she's thrilled with the way her campaign has been going and has a positive attitude about the outcome of Thursday's election.
