The Kincardine Pride Parade and Celebration next month has attracted a major sponsor.

CUPE Ontario has donated $1,500 to Kincardine Pride Inc., and the President of CUPE Ontario Fred Hahn has agreed to be the honorary grand marshall for the event June 23.

In 2010, Fred Hahn became the first LGBTQ person elected to lead the province’s largest union.

Kincardine’s Second Annual Pride Parade starts at 11a.m on Saturday, June 23. It will be followed by a social for friends, families and supporters in Victoria Park, with music, children’s activities, refreshments and food vendors.

Fort Papalia, President of Kincardine Pride Inc., stated, “We are very proud and honoured to have received the recognition, endorsement and financial support of such a leading organization for social progress in Ontario, and their distinguished president, Fred Hahn.”

Grey-Bruce Labour Council VP Dave Trumble notes, “Kincardine Pride is only in its second year and the momentum leading up to the June event is growing almost daily.  The Labour Council is intensely proud of being a partner from the earliest planning stages of the first Kincardine Pride event and equally proud of our ongoing support and involvement.”
