Brockton Mayor Not Running For Re-Election

There will be a new mayor for Brockton after the next election.

Current Mayor David Inglis has announced he will not run for re-election. Mayor Inglis says he is proud of a number of things that were accomplished during his tenure as mayor.

“It’s been good, I’ve met a lot of good people and for me, that’s one of the highlights. You meet good people, positive people, all working together to make the community better, and I think the community is better," he says. "We have a lot of economic development, building going on, construction.”

Inglis says that in terms of Brockton’s overall growth and direction during his time as mayor, he’s confident there is still plenty of areas to improve upon, specifically infrastructure.

“We never have enough money to pave the roads, and even sometimes to maintain the roads that are paved," he says. "We kind of have them on a rotation to do, but it’s hard catching up when you don’t get the funding and funding seems to be a thing of the past, as far as doing the things we want to do.”

With Inglis stepping aside, rumours are swirling that Deputy Mayor Dan Gieruszak will be running to replace him. Gieruszak says that as of right now, he hasn’t made a decision on whether or not he will run for Brockton Mayor.
