Wellington County is a step closer to getting some public transportation.
The province has granted $500,000 to the county to launch a rural transportation network which will coordinate rides for county residents -- whether to medical appointments, shopping, or to an airport.
Minto Mayor George Bridge says Wellington County has been working for years to get a transportation system in place.
He feels the added benefits of the system will include offering employment to drivers as well as allowing residents to share the ride and reduce the cost.
