Rostock Hall In Perth East Closer To Being Sold

Perth East Council has voted 5-2 in favour of selling the Rostock Hall, prompting concern from a local association established to try and stop the building from being sold.

The Rostock-Ellice Community Association was given a lease extension in December to establish a financial plan, but were ultimately unable to convince enough councillors to support their efforts.

RECA Spokesperson Nancy McLeod says there are many residents frustrated with how this process has played out.

McLeod says the Rostock Agri-Centre & Hall is geographically-significant to the region, as it is located at the centre of Perth County.

The hall supports projects like the Perth4Youth initiative and is currently being used by rural youth organizations like 4-H and Junior Farmers.

The sale of the facility must be completed before July 27, otherwise, Perth East council will be in a lame duck period prior to the upcoming municipal election.
