United Way Perth-Huron Announces New Campaign Chairs

A Perth County couple with a long history of community service has taken on a new challenge.

Martin and Kathryn Ritsma are the 2018 Campaign Chairs for United Way Perth-Huron.

Martin Ritsma is an educator who worked for 35 years with the Avon Maitland District and Huron County School Board. He served as principal at Stratford Northwestern, F.E. Madill in Wingham, and Stratford Central before retiring. He's currently the deputy mayor of Stratford, and has chaired or co-chaired a number of Stratford-area fundraising efforts.

Kathryn Ritsma is Senior Partner with Monteith Ritsma Phillips LLP and has practised law for the past 34 years. She is also a past United Way board member, serving from 2008-2014, and remains as chair of the United Centre Advisory Council.

"It felt natural to become Campaign Chairs," Martin and Kathryn noted. "The organization supports people in so many ways. Like United Way, we believe in the people and communities of Perth and Huron and want to do our part to make sure even more people can get the help they need when and where they need it."

The 2017 fundraising campaign for United Way Perth-Huron collected a record total of $1,317,738.
