Cyclones Win Penalty-Filled Game to Take 3-0 Lead

Jakob Lee helped put the Listowel Cyclones one win away from advancing to the GOJHL Midwestern Conference Semifinals. The Cyclones jumped out to a four goal lead after the first period and defeated Guelph 11-4 last night to take a 3-0 series lead.

The Cyclones were led by Lee with a hat trick and two assists. Caleb Warren had a pair of goals for the Cyclones. Steven Grant, Holdyn Lansink, Chayse Herrfort and Brett Primeau all had three point nights, scoring once and setting up two more for Listowel.

Brady Anderson and Tommy Hoogars also found the back of the Hurricanes net.

The Hurricanes offense came courtesy of Mathieu Mercier, Connor LePage, Niki Molson and Steven DeGroot.

Both teams allowed plenty of power play opportunities. The Cyclones racked up 70 minutes on 16 infractions while Guelph got a total of 64 minutes on 17 infractions. The Cyclones were 4-8 with the man advantage. The Hurricanes were 2-6.

Evan Reinhart stopped 24 shots for the Cyclones. Trenton McGrail allowed eight goals on 32 shots before he was replaced by Jet Greaves midway through the third. Greaves stopped four of seven shots in relief.

Game 4 is tomorrow night at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph at 7:30 p.m.
