AMDSB Identifies Image Of Successful Graduate

The director of the Avon Maitland District School Board says they've spent a considerable amount of time over the last few years defining what skills they expect graduating students would have.

Lisa Walsh says they took a critical look at what areas need improvement and then developed an image of a successful graduate.

Walsh says it was determined that Avon Maitland graduates should be two things -- prepared for their next step and prepared for a changing world.

She explains, prepared for their next step means they're going to understand themselves as learners and be advocates for themselves for their own needs and they expect them to be highly literate and also numerate.

Walsh explains, "the changing world is all about being confident and curious learners; resilient and flexible thinkers who demonstrate the global competencies, things like communication, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving."
